Hi neighbors,
I have a two-part ask, and for both of these, please reply ONLY TO ME at antigenre_arts(a)yahoo.com! Please do not hit reply all.
First, Lt. Morrison of RPD has asked me to reach out to everyone about meeting with Matt Golden, one of the owners of Bowstring, sometime in the new year to discuss solutions to the noise problem. Personally, I am against giving him the impression that there is any room for compromise, and I get the strong feeling that he is seeking some sort of arrangement that allows him to continue to violate the noise ordinance without any of us calling the cops on him. However, I probably will meet with him if only to make absolutely clear that this isn't going to happen. If you are interested in meeting, please let me know.
Second, if you have at any point heard the music from Bowstring, please respond TO ME ONLY [DO NOT REPLY ALL] with your address or the nearest intersection to you. Krista is putting together a map that gives the big picture of how far sound from Bowstring’s outdoor music is traveling for use in conversations with the business owner, police, and potentially City Council. I am creating a survey for neighbors who aren't on the listserv. We commit to not using your address in the map but use it only for ourselves to create a big picture view of the problem.
Feel free to shoot any questions my way.Thank you!Lauren

I had a quick chat last week with Emily Lapel from Jonathon Lambert-Melton’s office and asked her to get back to me with any updates. Here’s what she had to say just now. I’ll try to tune in tomorrow to watch the city council meeting.
Good Afternoon Lauren,
I hope this finds you well. I’m following up from our phone call from earlier in November with some more information from Lt. Morrison of RPD regarding Bowstring Brewyard. Lt. Morrison shared that this fall, RPD has issued several citations to Bowstring and will be meeting with the business owner to discuss strategies to improve their noise ordinance compliance.
Additionally, tomorrow our City Attorney will be bringing forward an update to Council on their work reviewing the noise ordinance during Council’s meeting tomorrow starting at 1:00pm. You can watch the meeting by following this link: https://www.youtube.com/@cityofraleigh/streams
Sincerely,
Emily Lapel
