Erin,
These are all really good points! City Council definitely needs to
hear this and how it might not offer any relief for our neighborhood.
Also, I like the idea of a separate list of speakers so we can
coordinate our talks. So can anyone else who is signing up please
reply in the affirmative so we can get a new email chain going!
Thanks!
Lauren

I agree with Krista's suggestion of trying to coordinate messages.
Perhaps a list of BPW speakers can be created and we can discuss
among ourselves separately from listserv? We are the only item on the
agenda. I'd expect a lot of input from folks especially around
Glenwood South
What I will say, though, is that the *proposed noise
ordinance doesn't seem like it will change anything for us in terms
of Bowstring noise:*
1. the sound consultant recorded Bowstring noise at 70dba at the
street. let's assume that was during a regular concert (he doesn't
clarify when his visit was)
2. 70 dba at the street STILL resulted in 1.5 years of noise
complaints from our neighbors
3. per draft ordinance, commercial establishments will need a permit
if they are louder than 70dba at the street.
4. If bowstring stays at same noise level of 70 dba they WILL NOT
NEED A PERMIT
5. If they don't need a permit, they will not need to make any
adjustments AT ALL to their stage, sound system, or sound protection
6. If they don't make any changes and dont need to reduce volume, we
should not expect any change in our experience of noise
I would love to be shown how I'm wrong, because I'd love for this
draft ordinance to actually lead to change.
But as it's written, and based on the sound consultant report, it
looks as though it will not affect any part of what Bowstring is doing.
Scroll through agenda to find sound consultant report and draft ordinance

would anticipate being there 4 plus hours . You can sign up to
speak and then they don’t hear things til way later

I have signed up as well. If you sign up please let us
know so we can coordinate our messages and cover as much
as possible.
If you don’t want to speak, PLEASE COME TO THE MEETING
ANYWAY. This weekend I will look into getting signs or
T-shirts so those who don’t speak can still communicate
their needs to the council from where they are sitting. I
will also be flyering the neighborhood to make others who
are not in this group aware that this is our opportunity
I could use help with these things. If you can help,
please let me know.
