Hey CERTizens! This is a reminder that our next CERT meeting is tomorrow
night. We'll be discussing organizational matters, our upcoming ACE
event, exhibiting at RARS, and other business.
Meeting place is TUMC as before. Hope to see you there!
Cheers,
Mark
Hello Central Raleigh CERT Members - hope you are doing well.
I just wanted to update you on the Youth & Family Preparedness Day event we
participated in Saturday June 18.
Things went well. It was the first year for this event so not very many
people came.
CERT had two tables at this event - giving information about CERT,
recruiting for new CERT members, and giving information about home emergency
kits. I estimate 20-30 people came by. One very good thing was that members
of 5 different local CERTs volunteered at the booth (Cary CERT; Apex CERT;
Morrisville CERT; Don Becom and Gail Wiesner of our CERT; and Fuquay-Varina
CERT which is even newer than us).
We had 5 people give contact information to us - wanting more information
about CERT. I know that at least 2 of these people want to get the basic
training and join our CERT.
We started a good relationship with the St Paul AME Church personnel - and
were invited to participate in these event next year.
Hope you have a good summer.
Dave Wiesner
Central Raleigh CERT Vice President
Hi, all. Who is planning to present about our CERT group on Tues at
Mordecai CAC? I am not willing to do it, b/c they've been listening to me
for four years and are tired of that!
I am happy to support the effort by being there, wearing my vest and
setting up a table with my disaster kit supplies, plus supply the posters
and a million brochures for people. But I need someone to take the lead on
presenting. If no one from our team is able to do this, I'm going to ask
that we be removed from this month's agenda.
The meeting is Tuesday at 7:30p at Mordecai Historic Park Visitors Center,
1101 Wake Forest Road.
Thanks, Kim
Hi Everyone,
I am trying to arrange my schedule so I can be there Tuesday evening. I
will be glad to support you Dave, but because of a busy first of the week I
won't be able to lead this one. Please keep me in the loop re this and
I'll confirm asap.
Don

Hi, Dave. Thanks! If you can give an outline of what we do, that would be
great. We don't need a lot of detail -- just a briefing on who we are and
why we exist and the training we've gone through and what we would do if a
disaster hit our neighborhood. I do not have any pictures or anything other
than materials I have already developed for our events, and I do not really
have time to pull anything else together right now. I have a lot of things
between now and Tues nite!
Thanks, Kim
