I've got a small pile of flower pots in the front yard that will not get
used by me. I hope some of you can use one or all of them. If so please
come claim them. You can find them next to the sidewalk leading to the
house. You can't miss them.

Dear members of various EastRaleigh lists.
The hosting provider that I have used to host the EastRaleigh.Org
website and lists is closing up shop this week. I am in the midst of
migrating the lists to a new provider and have full backups of the site.
During the migration process you might experience rejected emails to the
mailing lists or other snafus. These issues should only be temporary and
should all be resolved within a few days.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Feel free to call or
email me if you have any questions.

I have seeds that need to go to a good home. Some of the packets have been
opened. Some have not. Some are new. Some are from a few years ago.
Some of the seeds are
Snap beans
Parsley
Sage
Oregano
Tomatoes
Watermelon
Squash
Carrots
I prefer not to hold these for someone so I am leaving them on a first come
bases on the steps of our porch.
Happy gardening!

ps - Logan's Trading company (and likely other places too) are encouraging
you to plant extra and donate it:

pps - I'm volunteering to help tune up some children's bikes. Holler if you
have a bike helmet, time, and/or money to donate. Here's some details:

I have 2 small --about a foot to 2 feet tall-- in my front yard that need moving. The biggest one is under the maple tree and will need a sharp shovel and a strong back to dig it up.
I also have a dogwood that needs a home but it is in a pot ready to go. It was in a spot where it ended up growing kind of crooked, but I like that look. If you do too, you are welcome to it.

Good morning,
Any recs for local nurseries with dwarf citrus trees, if any?
Due to canker no trees from Florida can leave the state, so that requires expensive shipping rates ($20 for one tiny tree) from California nurseries to NC.
Much appreciated, Vanessa

About a year ago I e-mailed to ask about bat houses. As usual I have not
built nor bought one. But also as usual I have not forgotten about them.
I spent some time collecting resources of information, most of which was
shared with me by some of you, and I am happy to pass it on to any one of
you who also wishes to obtain a bat house.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1b26hMaZ1igOfV7GSunOguPP0rJIpOpCHLbc7Lzo…
Let me know if you have trouble viewing the document. Two of the links in
it will not work for you. But they would not be of any interest to you
anyway. They're for my organization
Incidentally Whole Foods in North Raleigh (
http://wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/northraleigh) is selling bat houses for
around $40. Considering materials and time I do not think that I can make
one for less. (However if you have one for sale for less please let me
know...)
Even if you do not desire to install a bat house a lot of valuable
information can be found through that document. And bats are in need of
stewards.

ps - the same store is selling butterfly houses. If you're interested in
planting a garden that encourages butterfly and other pollinating insects
let me know. I might have other information on that as well.

Howdy,
If you have a spare moment during your lunch break, please cast your vote for East Raleigh's own Powell Magnet Elementary school garden!
There is an opportunity for students to win a $1000 grant & their project is currently moving between first & second place.
