Subject: [Historic Oakwood] - It's that time of year again - free Macho
Ferns!

Hello all, and Happy Thanksgiving!
With the holiday now over, and the Candlelight Tour just around the
corner, it's time once again for me to find good homes for 9 large Macho
ferns I've had growing in hanging baskets on my porch this summer. I
have overwintered several in the past, but simply have no more room for
any more and hate for them to freeze or to have to send them to yard
waste. These are large plants that would not be cheap in a retail nursery.
Macho ferns are much better adapted to indoor living in modern homes;
they do not shed their leaves like traditional Boston ferns, and while
they can take direct sun, they require only bright indirect light. To
learn more about this modern fern variety, see
www.srtrop.com/ferns/macho.html
NOTE: the hanging baskets do not come with the plants, so you would have
to provide your own pots. However, the ferns come out of the baskets
nice and neat since the baskets were lined with coconut fiber that the
roots have grown into. You will just need to bring boxes or pots to put
them in to transport them to their new home.
So again - I have 9 available on a first-come basis. Just reply to this
email with you name and telephone number and how many you would like so
we may arrange for you to pick up your plants over the long weekend. Thanks!
