I know Logan's also sells bat and butterfly houses, but I have found Ace's prices
to be better generally (not sure on these particular items).

Thanks, Bill. I did not know that. I rather shop more

Seaboard AceHardware, right here in our neighborhood, has bat houses. And I'm
pretty sure they're less than $40.

About a year ago I e-mailed to ask about bat houses. As usual I have not built nor
bought one. But also as usual I have not forgotten about them.
I spent some time collecting resources of information, most of which was shared with
me by some of you, and I am happy to pass it on to any one of you who also wishes to
obtain a bat house.

Let me know if you have trouble viewing the document. Two of the links in it will not
work for you. But they would not be of any interest to you anyway. They're for my
organization
Incidentally Whole Foods in North Raleigh
(
http://wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/northraleigh) is selling bat houses for around $40.
Considering materials and time I do not think that I can make one for less. (However if
you have one for sale for less please let me know...)
Even if you do not desire to install a bat house a lot of valuable information can be
found through that document. And bats are in need of stewards.

ps - the same store is selling butterfly houses. If you're interested in planting
a garden that encourages butterfly and other pollinating insects let me know. I might have
other information on that as well.

I caught only some of it but thought that each of you might be interested in
this. (you all replied to my original e-mail below.

I am looking into installing a bat house and am interested to hear from other
people their experiences. What worked? What didn't? Are you going to install a second
or did you give up? Why? Thanks. - Jamie
