> Subject: [East-CAC] BURGLARY UPDATE
>
> ALL,
> From November 21st – December 18th the South East District has seen 99 residential burglaries. Of those 99 residential burglaries the East CAC was a victim of 22 of those burglaries. With that being said only 4 of those burglaries took place since you as a community have been calling in suspicious persons, leaving me your vacation dates, and allowing us to use your residences. Since we’ve teamed up I have targeted burglaries in the area which began around December 5th. Over all I think 4 burglaries in a 2 week period, compared to 18 in the previous two weeks, is a very impressive decrease and it is due in part to the folks who live in the CAC being more proactive. Thank you again!
>
> Many of the burglaries that I have noticed are happening along Milburnie Rd, Glascock St, and Colleton Rd. Most of the houses are corner houses at intersections where it’s not unusual for someone to stop for a brief period of time. This doesn’t mean the rest of the community can let their guard down it just means that those who live in the areas I mentioned should be more aware of who is stopping and going in their areas. Remember 911 is a good tool so let us determine whether or not someone is just lost or is casing your homes. Remember to always share info on suspicious persons and vehicles with your neighbors and on the list serve. You all do a great job at that anyway but I just wanted to send a reminder!

Has anyone noticed Animal Control patrolling the neighborhood or being more
responsive since our SeeClickFix report?

Neighbors,
We have a 110 gallon glass tank that could be used for a terrarium or a home for reptiles, etc. It CANNOT be used as an aquarium. Free to anyone who will pick it up. Hate to see it going in the trash, it can still be used! Email or call (919) 833-4838.
Gayle
In case anyone in our neighborhood is interested in joining the Longview
Gardens folks, or forming our own group(s) for regular walks. I love this
idea!

Hey all,
I think a great thing to do would be to have Walking Clubs that walk at
odd hours of the day. With more people (neighbors) out on the streets
there is probably going to be less crime. Not to mention that we'll get
some good exercise!
I'm currently unemployed and have the ability to walk just about any
time on any day. I'm going to start on the Stevens/Locke/Derby/Chatham
route and plan to try to do that every day - at least as much as I can.
If anyone wants to join me or to do the same in your part of the
neighborhood, do it! It would also be good to have several different
people/groups walking the same paths at different times of the day. More
coverage = less chance for a burglary to happen.
Like Officer Krysko said at the last CAC meeting, this time of year is
prime for the picking. So let's get out there and tell burglars "NO! Not
in our neighborhood!"
