Dear Neighbors,

You may notice small white flags in the right-of-way along the edge of your property; during my walk through the neighborhood today I saw them along Rumson and Marlborough Road, among the streets hit hardest by the April tornado. They were put there by the city's NeighborWoods tree-planting program to mark the spots eligible for FREE TREES!

It's a great city program, and it's great of them to help us get our trees back after so many were killed and maimed in the storm. Please spread the word. And please consider helping out your elderly or disabled neighbors who might not be able to handle the planting and maintenance themselves. My husband and I planted a tree that the program provided to one of our elderly neighbors, and now we have the joy of watching it grow into something beautiful.

Thank you,
Sue Sturgis
