Thank you! I had a feeling that's what it was, which I know shouldn't be a big
huge deal, but I lived in a town where we had a creek blow up because a gas line that ran
along it was leaking, so I'm a little freaky about that kind of stuff.
Clearly these guys were on top of it though-

It was a gas leak...one of the trees being removed apparently fell and clipped a gas line.
Appears to be cleared up now.
