Let's focus this group on the parking problem for now, if folks are willing... If
someone sees food being sold, they are of course free to contact the health department or
other city personnel, but I think we will be taken more seriously if we focus on the big
issue that we are seeing regularly.
To my knowledge, food sales haven't been a nuisance like the parking problem, and
I'm not comfortable with the community watch email list being involved with that at
this point.
(In other words, if you want to pursue that particular issue, please drop
Lockwood(a)eastraleigh.org off the email and contact Krysko through the CAC list or
directly.)

I agree completely- Calling 911 for the "Emergency" of too many cars parked

is confrontational. Both seem counter-productive and the exact opposite of what
neighborhood and community mean to me. These gatherings are clearly family oriented; a
kid's party complete with clown a few weeks ago. We're not talking about loud
parties with unsavory characters wandering the steets! I'm sure most of us expect our
visitors to be able to park on the street in front of our houses when more than 2 cars are
in the driveway-these folks aren't any different. Although I personally have never had
trouble at that intersection in my 5+ years on Marlborough Rd, I empathize with those that
have and would certainly be willing to talk to the residents about the issue.

Mike,
I couldn't agree with you more. That is, in fact, the neighborly thing to do
(that's the way I grew up). It also defines "community". Some people are so
quick to "blow the whistle" on infractions without ever attempting to speak with
or contacting their neighbor(s). Those same people may be pleasantly surprised that with
communication they could have results much quicker than waiting for the City to address
it. Just a thought........

Before filing any complaints, has anyone spoken with the tenants? Seems
like that's the neighborly thing to do.

they are incurring fees for the issue, they will surely address the situation. Just think
it could be nipped in the bud before the tenants feel things are being handled unfairly.

be created by ordinance approved by the City Council. The staff generally does an
evaluation first and then places a recommendation on the Council agenda. The Council only
meets once in August, so their next meeting will be on September 6. Once the Council
passes the ordinance the signs need to be fabricated and a crew sent out to install them.
I will pass on to the Public Works staff your desire to have this issue addressed as soon
as possible. We will see what we can do.

Local traffic, a steep hill and a bus stop makes this area congested without the addition
of street parked vehicles.

Just around the corner, Rumson Road has a pair of No Parking signs between the top of the
blind hill and the bus stop too.

been expressing concern about this intersection and the parking situation on Barksdale for

corner, but with the large number of guests they have there for frequent gatherings. It
does seem like that first block of Barksdale between Raleigh Boulevard and Rumson Road
should be marked no parking on either side of the street to protect against the bad
accident that's just waiting to happen.
