I also called in shots fired last night at 12:10 a.m. I live at the
intersection of Millbank Street and Brighton Road in the Lockwood
subdivision off Raleigh Boulevard. To us it sounded like the shots were
coming from the northern edge of Raleigh North Apartments or the southern
edge of the Park Glen apartment complex; I gave as the approximate location
the dead ends of Downing or Burgundy. We also heard and saw fireworks in
our area, as well as subsequent volleys of what sounded like gunshots, with
some of the shots seeming to come from a moving vehicle.

We've been hearing them on North King Charles -
just south of the traffic

Bern Ave., but it's hard to tell from inside the house.

The loud booms we have been hearing each night for the past two weeks are
fireworks.
From our home on Lions Way you can see the
fireworks just over the tree
line towards New Bern Ave.
They appear to be somewhere between Milburnie Rd./Oakwood Ave. and New Bern
Ave., they have been going off every night between 7:30-8:30PM.

I heard them, too, but it was so quick that I
wasn't sure what I was
hearing (fireworks or gunshots) and from which direction. I didn't
call it in since I couldn't offer any helpful information, but the
first boom was very loud from what I recall. Does anyone have any
tips to help discern between the two sounds? I usually look for how
far apart they are spaced and repetition, but the two can sound very
similar.
I did, however, call in two people shouting at each other all up and
down Bennett, near Tonsler/Glascock, on my way home from the CAC
meeting ;) Officers responded quickly to that call, which was great.
(I diverted my path down Tonsler as I called it in to avoid walking
into the confrontation, so if you saw someone down by your house
around 9pm, that was me, Mark)

Office Krysko has requested that reports of
gunshots and fireworks
be accompanied by your approximate location, direction, and distance
the sound is coming from. The RPD can use this to better determine
the location of the incident, sort of "citizen shot spotter." Also,
the more people who call/ email when they hear such events the better.

were fireworks or gun shots, but they've been happening about every
