Subject: [East CAC Announce] Be alert - break-ins on the rise

Hey folks,

Recently RPD has been performing license checks around the neighborhood
in response to a number of break-ins that have taken place in the area.
As Officer Krysko mentioned at this month's East CAC meeting, this is
the time of year when these types of crimes usually spike.

Last week, a home in the Mordecai neighborhood was burglarized and a
wide-screen TV stolen. The back door had been kicked in.

On Sunday, a sharp-eyed neighbor in Woodcrest foiled what was apparently
a break-in attempt at her neighbor's home. She apparently chased off a
man who was walking up to her neighbor's back door, dressed in black and
carrying a white bag.

Later that afternoon, a neighbor in Oakwood Park spotted a man (possibly
the same one) walking suspiciously through neighbors' backyards. The man
became agitated when he saw he was being watched and quickly went south
down N. State Street.

In both cases, these neighbors recognized suspicious activity and called
911 immediately. That's the best thing we can do to combat these crimes.

Please keep an eye on your neighborhood and should you see anything you
think is suspicious, don't hesitate to call 911 and let RPD sort things
out. Working together, we can keep our neighborhood safe!
