About the break in again

Hi Logview....it has been over 24 hours since I sent out an email about the break in on Thursday, the 2nd break in on this block in a month. The 3 robbers were seen and we have a idea of where they went and might live. I find it disheartening that there has been no communication since that email within this community. I'm sorry to call people out, but I've also emailed Matt and Officer K individually twice hoping for a response, and all we've gotten is silence. While cookouts and clean ups are awesome and very fun, and fireworks are annoying, there is a very real crime problem in our neighborhood, especially on Milburnie Rd between New Bern and Raleigh Blvd, and to have those problems go unaddressed is both frustrating and disheartening. I thought one of the main parts of Community Watch is to help keep our community safe. I don't see how that can happen if there is no communication, especially from our leaders in the community. I will be calling the SE police district today and tomorrow in hopes of getting some help about this issue and hopefully some better police presence on Milburnie. There are a lot of children and elderly on this street, along with a lot of riff raff that need to be dealt with and I hope everyone will please be diligent in communicating with one another, as well as the leaders of community watch communicating with us. Otherwise, all of our homes will be more at risk to this type of activity. I'm sorry if this sounds bitchy or confrontational, but we really don't know what else to do. Fear Promotes Violence

Saddened by the impetuous expressions in some neighbors' recent posts, I discussed these concerns with another neighbor in our community to ensure my concerns were unwarranted. Funny (and somewhat in response to some other and recent posts), we both rent and care no less about the community than a homeowner. We take pride in our dwellings, even as we've seen some homeowners neglect theirs leaving the care of its landscaping to disinterested renters and showing no interest in the effects their property had on other homeowner's values. Sadly, some have lost their homes to the recession so the offender is nameless. The seemingly naïve division in these groups keeps Angela and I close, aware and prepared. Inspite of all this, we are forever and always concerned and proactive in the safety of our neighbors. However, with no "us against them" mentality. Back to the subject, the same fear expressed in the Door to Door Posts is what I began to feel for my nieces and nephews in their own communities; I wonder if they're neighbors are saying the same about them? It scared me that the cops would be called and then things taken out of context and the violence that would ensue and how deeply out of control it'd get. We've seen it happen too many times over and again. After snapping out of our own fears, we both concluded how foolish some of us can be and began to reminisce in Angela's story about Ms. Betty below. Just another great story of our youth when less fear eroded the very fibers of our communities: Angela: (Stevens Road) Recently while reading of the terror solicited by a young girls collecting points for her school and asking for water in our neighborhood it brought to mind my days as a girl scout in a community similar to the one in which I reside today "Longview". As I walked from door to door carelessly confident that I would achieve the highest number of sales because I belonged to a terrific community of all ethnicity's, yet there was peace due to a sense of culture and breeding that my parents placed in me and in their community as well. I wonder did I get thirsty? I use to sneak a look inside of Miss Bettys house ( she was single and very flamboyant) hoping to catch a glimpse of something forbidden I wasn’t allowed to see. That sounds fantastic. And I agree we all need to get to know each other to feel more involved. My comments about the cookout weren't dismissing it, but more pointing out the fact that there was more discussion here about a cookout and fireworks than about some serious crime issues. Also, the people who I think saw the perps do not have internet, so there's no way for them to get the updates about cookouts. Many people on Milburnie rd don't have Internet and many ppl (like myself) work every weekend, so unfortunately I can never make it to these meet ups and cleaning events and cookouts unfortunately.

Break in Milburnie

Heads up....yesterday around 6pm, 2460 Milburnie Road was burglarized by 3 black males, reportedly around their mid 20s. The kicked the back door in after the residents left for work and took EVERYTHING they could carry...apparently they were seen with their shirts off carrying the stuff in their shirts. They took TVs, money, PS3, etc. I'm not sure who saw them or what the circumstances were. This is the 2nd home invasion in a month on our block. And it happened AGAIN in broad daylight. The current resident of 2560 said the previous tenants moved out because the house was broken into TWICE. Folks, it's becoming scary to live on Milburnie Rd. what can we do about this? Where is the police presence?

Thank you 3 for the replies. The house is a rental, I'm not sure if it has an alarm system...it has a Matrix sign out front, but I don't know if the alarm is on. If that sign didn't deter them I don't think an actual alarm would either. I did not see the perps, but someone in the neighborhood did, and they didn't call the police! This is the sort of thing that needs to be addressed...the common sense that if you see someone running by a house with thei shirts off filled with goods, 911 should be called. I didn't know about the break in until 24 hours later, and I assumed they called the cops. The point is everyone (and Vic), that this message board is about communication and getting our issues heard so that higher authority (police) can do something about it. There are constantly thug types walking up and down Milburnie, late into the night....we obviously don't need to email each other about every unsavory character walking around at night, because that would be presumptuous, but after having 2 break ins on the block, during the daytime, in less than a month, I think that warrants some discussion and consideration.
