Second Union Station Public Information Session to Be Held May 1
The public is invited to attend the second in a series of public information sessions regarding the planning and design of the Raleigh Union Station on Wednesday, May 1 at the Contemporary Art Museum, 409 West Martin Street.
The purpose of the meeting is to solicit input regarding program elements. Conceptual plans also will be available for review and comment
There also will be an opportunity to learn more about the City of Raleigh’s West Street Extension Project and the South Street/Lenoir Street project at the workshop. The West Street Extension project is a proposed connection between the north and south sections of West Street and to close the existing at-grade crossing of the railroad at west Cabarrus street. The South Street/Lenoir Street Project proposes to convert portions of the streets from one-way to two-way traffic and includes of other streetscape improvements
There will be a brief presentation at 6:00 p.m. Representatives from the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Rail Division, the City of Raleigh and the design team will be available to answer questions. Public comments provided at the workshop will be taken into consideration for the advancement of the station design.
Raleigh Union Station is located at 510 West Martin Street, the existing Dillon Supply Company warehouse building, also known as the Viaduct Building. The planning and construction of the new station is a joint initiative of the North Carolina Department of Transportation Rail Division, the City of Raleigh and Triangle Transit. Funding for the first stage of design is provided by a grant from the Federal Railroad Administration.

Visioning Sessions, Dream Big!
The five-day Visioning Sessions from May 13th - May 17th, 2013 will be comprised of 15 sessions covering a range of Parks and Recreation themes, from Arts and Greenways to Historic Resources and Active Adults. It will be a time to DREAM BIG about the future of Raleigh's Parks and Recreation Department. City staff will be on-hand and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. The week will begin with a Kick-off Event on Monday, May 13th from 6:00-8:00 pm and will close with an Open House on Friday, May 17th from 3:30-6:30 pm, during which the results of the workshop will be presented.

Hello! as some of you may know we are seeking to get an Outdoor Exercise Park here in our community at the Culpepper Lane/Culpepper Circle, I'm now asking if you will go on www.YourParksYourFuture.com and join if you haven't already put in the search box (East Raleigh to have an outdoor exercise park Culpper Circle) and make your comments on how good this would be and you would like to see it happen thank you in advance the more votes the greater possibility of it happening. Hopefully in May or July we'll have the equipment company Rep come out to the ECAC meeting and give us more info and insight plus answer questions the community has, will keep you posted.

Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is hiring a Community Development Specialist for our Urban Agriculture program!
IFFS Farms and Gardens was recently awarded a planning grant from the John Rex Endowment to work with the southeast Raleigh community to develop a plan for an urban agriculture program that is rooted in community. The Community Development Specialist will be responsible for coordinating the planning process. This is a time-limited position of 7 months, with a possibility to extend the position depending on available funding.
Key grant activities include: identifying model programs across the country; community assets mapping; hosting community workshops, listening sessions, and events; and developing a final plan of action for the urban ag program. *See attached for the full description and list of required qualifications.*
