Hi – I just received this message.  For some reason the community watch emails continue to go to my work email – trust and believe I’m not checking that over the weekend.  Matt – I’m upset too – I feel like everything that is going on in the  Milburnie area is serious and needs a lot of attention.  But please don’t be so dismissive of “cookouts” and other activities.  We all get involved when something bad happens, but getting to know each other, EVERYONE, not just the few people who are involved in stuff already, is the best thing we can do.  I have a lot of sympathy with people who don’t want to get all involved in all this community stuff because we all have other stuff going on and we did not all sign on to be community activists.  I feel that way a lot.  However we may not have much choice.  You noted that no one called the police.  If we could get people involved prior to an event, they would be more inclined to act when something is happening.  We are always going to have people breaking in to houses or cars, crime is not just going to go away.  And the police will never be able to monitor a neighborhood as well as the people who live in it.  The more someone feels connected to a community, the more likely they are to invest in it.  There are a lot of proactive things we can do if there is a motivated body of people who are actually willing to do things proactively, when something is not going on.  A cohesive group gets more attention than an individual.  I would be more than willing to participate in a proactive community group with one or two identified long-term goals, if we could have commitment from my neighbors that when we needed the neighborhood to get involved, either at a city council meeting, or through an email campaign -  it would happen.  Sorry for the long email, but I have been thinking about this a lot.  Is anyone else interested in this?  Thanks - Elise

yeah that's it.  found out more info....they ran down Donnelly & cut thru someone's yard into those apartments that are off of Milburnie.  There are some bad characters living there....I don't see police much on Milburnie patrolling anymore like I used to a few months ago.  Is there something we can do about this??

I got it...

Matt's original message:

Heads up....yesterday around 6pm, 2460 Milburnie Road was burglarized
by 3 black males, reportedly around their mid 20s. The kicked the back
door in after the residents left for work and took EVERYTHING they
could carry...apparently they were seen with their shirts off carrying
the stuff in their shirts. They took TVs, money, PS3, etc. I'm not
sure who saw them or what the circumstances were. This is the 2nd home
invasion in a month on our block. And it happened AGAIN in broad
daylight. The current resident of 2560 said the previous tenants moved
out because the house was broken into TWICE.

Folks, it's becoming scary to live on Milburnie Rd. what can we do
about this? Where is the police presence?
