On June 12 the NC State
Historic Preservation
Office’s (SHPO) National Register Advisory Committee
approved placing John
Chavis Memorial Park on the National Register Study
List. This means
the City and the Raleigh Historic Development Commission
(RHDC) has North
Carolina’s support to move forward with a full blown
National Register of
Historic Places application.

Once again this summer, John
Chavis Memorial Park is offering free water aerobics
classes every Wednesday evening at 6:00PM. The
classes will last until the pool closes for the season on
September 1, 2014. Special July 4th Concert
John Chavis Memorial Park
will host a Special July 4th Concert, as part of the Summer
in the Park concert series. Tish Martin & the Applauze,
will be featured on Friday, July 4. The show
will begin at 6:00PM. Admission is free.
Bring a blanket or a lawn chair to enjoy the outdoor
performance and stay to watch the Downtown fireworks.

Dancing in the Park 2014It's that time of year
again; time for Dancing in the Park! Come out to John Chavis
Memorial Park every Monday (June 16 - August 4) and
Tuesday (June 17 - August 5) from
6:00-7:00PM. Mark your calendars and join
us for this INCREDIBLE, FREE fitness
event.
Featuring
DJ Guv'nor and Certified Fitness Zumba
Instructor Jacque Allen.
During
inclement weather the event will be held inside
the gym.
