You should definitely call the police and let them know the information you know about the individual.

I live in the 2400 block. My neighbor across the street came over a couple days ago to let me know that his wife had just seen someone check my car door handles to see if it was unlocked.

My car was parked on the street outside our house. It was still light out if I remember right. The guy was apparently walking down the street with his child. Oh and here's the fun part-- the neighbor knew who the door handle checker was. It was a guy who lives a few doors down.

I'm sure whatever went missing is sure to show up very soon at a pawn shop nearby.

Hi All,

I just wanted to alert everyone to a theft that occurred to one of my
neighbors in the 2300 block of Stevens Rd last night. A GPS unit was
taken from a car between 7-11pm. The car was unlocked, but parked
right next to the house (not on the street). The GPS unit was not
visible (stored in a compartment in the console) and other contents of
the car were searched for valuables. I'm speculating, but it could be
possible that the perpetrator(s) were opportunistically checking cars
to see if they were unlocked. The theft has been reported to RPD.

If anyone saw anything or experienced a similar theft last night,
please report it.

Thanks.
