"A Sense of Wonder" plus Q&A with Kaiulani Lee
Thursday, August 29, 7pm
SECU Daily Planet Theater
Join us for a free screening in the NRC's 3-story SECU Daily Planet Theater for an
intimate and poignant film about pioneering environmentalist and author Rachel Carson,
most well known for "Silent Spring" published in 1962.
In this documentary-style film, writer and actress Kaiulani Lee embodiesRachel Carson
using many of her own words, reflecting on attacks by the chemical industry, the
government and the press as she focused her energy on her message to Congress and the
American people. Following the film, Kaiulani Lee will answer audience questions in
character.
Kaiulani Lee has more than 35 years of experience in theater, film and television. She
has starred in more than a dozen plays on and off Broadway - she has beennominated for the
Drama Desk Award on Broadway and has won the OBIE Award for outstanding achievement off
Broadway.
This is the final event of the Museum's "Science from a Personal
Perspective" series, which was funded by the NC Humanities Council and designed to
highlight the convergence of science and humanities and to foster the desire for lifelong
learning.
