Neighborhood canvasing and recruitment effort

Hey everybody, Happy Friday. Here's a quick update on the canvasing and block captain recruitment effort from last weekend. We had a good team who braved the chilly, albeit sunny day on Saturday to go door-to-door talking to their neighbors about the Community Watch group. What a great way to meet some neighbors both new and old! Thanks to Emrys, Emily, Wayne, Marion and Sheri for going out walking with me. We found a lot of interest from our neighbors in the Community Watch group, and we definitely talked to some people who will make great block captains. We covered a large portion of the southern section of the neighborhood along Colleton, Tudor, King Charles and Bertie. We still have a little way to go in order to reach all our neighbors. So, if you missed your chance to go out with us talking to your neighbors about the Community Watch group, you have another opportunity. Last weekend, we split into teams of two and walked routes we agreed to based on a neighborhood map. We were only out a fairly short time (less than 2 hours) yet we covered a lot of ground. If we get a few more people to help us next time, we should be able to cover most of the rest of the area. Since we had positive results from our effort last weekend, I plan on keeping the process virtually identical. We'll meet at my house (500 N. King Charles Rd.) at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 28. I'll have maps of the area, flyers and sign-up sheets for everyone. If you have a clipboard, you may want to bring it with you. Sunday the 29th will be the weather contingency day if Saturday has bad weather. Please let me know if you will be able to make it.
