Just received this email from Dwayne Patterson with the city's Community Services Division about the door-to-door solicitation that has been going on.
"It has come to our attention that there is a man visiting various neighborhoods with Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) information cards and he is soliciting money from the residents. To date we have receive four (4) such reports. Please do not give this person any money!
While ABCD is the citizen engagement model we use for effective community building, it does not include monetary solicitation from residents. This individual is not a City of Raleigh staff member and city staff will never go door-to-door soliciting money for any reason.
If you encounter this individual, please do not engage in his rhetoric and do not give him any money. However, I encourage you to notify your neighbors via your customary methods. Further action beyond that is totally up to you for your personal and community safety.
We thank you for your service to your neighborhood and the greater Raleigh community.
Serving with Excellence,
