WHAT: The Planning Staff will begin the meeting by responding to questions
asked during the review of previous chapters. After the Q&A is completed,
the City Council will receive an overview of Chapter 6, Use Regulations.
WHEN: Thursday, November 15 at 3:00 pm.
WHERE: 222 West Hargett Street, City Council Chamber.
LIKELY HOT TOPICS:
* R-6 Districts. Some. Councilors are questioning the exclusion of
townhomes from the Residential-6 (R-6) zoning district. The proposed
reduction in R-6 lot sizes from 7,260 to 6,000 square feet, combined with
the current build-out of established neighborhoods, could become a catalyst
for teardowns. The inclusion of townhomes in an R-6 district would also
limit the choices for single unit neighborhoods to three (3) districts--R1,
R-2 and R-4. This is a continuation of the discussion that began at the
November 5 meeting.

Hello CAC chairs,
I'm happy to announce a new interactive web application that
compliments the existing Adopt-a-shelter program from the City of
Raleigh. Please share the news below with your CACs. If your CAC can
adopt a bus shelter or if you know of a business that might be willing
to adopt a shelter, that would be a great way to help us meet our goal
of 20 new bus shelter adoptions. Let me know if there are any
questions.

Raleigh Code for America Brigade Launches 'Adopt-A-Shelter Application'
Twenty Shelters Is the Goal
Residents interested in adopting a City of Raleigh bus shelter now
have an interactive web application that displays which Capital Area
Transit (CAT) bus shelters are available for adoption. Using the
application, residents can sign-up for a one-year commitment to keep
the adopted bus shelter clean for CAT riders.
The URL for the app is http://adoptashelter.raleighnc.gov
The Raleigh Code for America brigade, Code for Raleigh, is a volunteer
group working to enable existing applications and technology created
by Code for America. Code for Raleigh has deployed an Adopt-A-Shelter
application highlighting 184 shelters that are available for adoptions
in Raleigh.

Mark, I didn't see an attachment to your email. I may be alone in this, but
would you please resend?
Please all CAC chairs, *alert your people to the Comprehensive Planning
Committee **next Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 5pm in the City Council
Chambers.* It will be very influential in deciding what happens with
backyard cottages BEFORE our workshop.
They will be looking for a compromise position that will allow these second
backyard houses in certain circumstances.
It is a real shame that this hearing is being held just days before our
workshop. I've asked Councilor Stephenson if it can be delayed until after
Thanksgiving, but we have to assume that this will not happen.

Hey folks,
Ken Bowers put together this proposed agenda for our upcoming UDO
workshop. Please look this over and provide me comments as to what
changes might need to be made. Also, don't rely on the schedule as Ken's
timeline does not include the full RCAC meeting agenda.
Please provide your comments to me by Friday so that we can finish up
our agenda.
Thanks much!
Cheers,
Mark
