Still have much to to learn, but a few points...

What if experts
provide erroneous information? I have certainly seen that happen
before.

higher standard when it
comes to the interpretation and enforcement of development
regulations? In
my opinion, the 8 standards for site plan approval are seldom given much
consideration.

Mark,
Based on this article and what we heard on Wednesday from Mitchell Silver it
looks to me that Mitchell will be recommending that all Planning Commission
cases be treated as quasi-judicial hearings and that would significantly
limit ability for citizens to be involved in Conditional rezoning, site plan
reviews et al. There has been some discussion that input from citizens is
mere opinion and just wastes the time of the Commission. As protectors of
citizen involvement in the processes of City Government I would advocate a
strong position against changing the nature of Planning Commission and
Council Committees and continue to support more citizen input rather than
agree to less. What citizen group has the money to hire experts to advocate
their case. I think this is flat wrong for anything other than Board of
Adjustment Hearings which are clearly established as quasi-judicial hearings
already.

Here is Senate Bill 44 (in its final form) that Mitchell and Ken were
talking about last night - thanks to Richard J. Homovec sending it out
to the DDNA today.
