All,

Below is information about the next Five Points CAC meeting. Prior to the regular meeting, the Five Points CAC is hosting an open house will for the new Five Points Center for Active Adults. If you think residents in your CAC would be interested in learning more about and touring this new Parks & Rec facility, please send an announcement to your CAC list.

During the open house, I am serving drinks and finger food. If you send out an announcement, please let me know so I can bump up the order for the refreshments.

Please note the changes in the time and location for this meeting. The Five Points CAC is hosting an open house for the new Five Points Center for Active Adults at 6 PM. The regular meeting will follow at 7 PM. Finger foods and drinks will be served during the open house.

Traffic calming has been a big issue in the Five Points community for some time. During the open house, the City will have representatives staffing a table for the Watch for ME NC pedestrian safety program and Raleigh's Comprehensive Pedestrian Plan. This is an excellent opportunity for you to learn more about what the City is doing to make things better for pedestrians and to lobby for changes in your neighborhood.

Watch for Me NC is a comprehensive campaign aimed at reducing the number of pedestrians hit and injured in crashes with vehicles. The program is a collaborative effort with state and local transportation agencies. The campaign consists of safety messages directed toward drivers and pedestrians, educational messages to better inform drivers and pedestrians about pedestrian safety laws, and an enforcement effort by area police to crack down on some of the violations of pedestrian safety laws.

Comprehensive Pedestrian Plan includes measurable goals and detailed strategies for improving pedestrian mobility and safety throughout the City. The plan will help guide the City's ongoing investments in sidewalks and crossings in order to improve the quality and safety of existing pedestrian network; and to identify ways to increase the awareness and benefits of walking.
