Hey Folks,

This is typically what we have been getting from Chief Dolan. Our CAC voted not to participate in an August 31 meeting that was proposed by an "off the cuff " suggestion from Michael Ballen at the August CAC meeting. We were scheduled to attend the Sept. 1 City Council meeting to advance our Historic Chavis Park Petition  and did not want to have two nights of meetings back to back. Without notice, Chief Dolan went ahead and scheduled it , sent out notices, and held a neighborhood meeting in total disrespect to our CAC vote and request to schedule for a  later time.

Scheduling any meeting that close to Christmas and on a Saturday does not seem appropriate. It must be another "publicity event" that was also scheduled, giving notice  on  a  Sunday for a Monday morning without details.

This is a recurring practice and needs to be communicated that it is not the best way to truly collaborate with the CAC chairs and CACs.

Lonnette

Ana,

I agree.  There are concerns in my CAC about the changes, but I have a prior commitment that takes me out of town that day and cannot attend a December 19 meeting.  Perhaps someone from SWCAC could attend in my place, but we CAC chairs need to know all about these changes so we can better field questions that arise in our CAC meetings.

I feel confident that the RCAC chairs would very much like to meet with RPD, but I'm concerned that the meeting date suggested by Chief Dolan may not work for folks due to its proximity to the holiday.  I know I can be there, but even if a handful of us attend, it's a far cry from representing the opinions and concerns of the 18 CAC districts.  Is there any flexibility as to when we can meet with Chief Dolan?  I'd like to ensure that as many interested RCAC representatives as possible will be able to attend.

We have been frustrated that city-organized meetings that are billed specifically for RCAC chairs to attend are sometimes being scheduled without input from the RCAC regarding the group's availability (recent case-in-point: Planning's RCAC listening session on the UDO).  Dwayne (and Kristen), do you have any suggestions for pro-actively avoiding this issue in the future?

RCAC Members,

Police Dolan is interested in meeting with the RCAC members or CAC designee to provide a departmental update before the first of the year.  There are several things on the horizon with the 5 year strategic plan, realignment, etc.  Chief Dolan would like to brief the RCAC on these initiatives before it goes public in early 2010.

He is suggesting a meeting on Saturday, December 19 at 1:00 p.m.  The meeting location is TBA.

I will need a reply by end of business on this Friday as to if you will be able to attend.  The response of the group will dictate if the meeting will occur or not.  I will tabulate the responses and notify the group of the decision.  Thanks.
