Re: [RCAC] citizen/RCAC input for new recycling program? [update]

I too am concerned that this new recycling program seemed to "fly under the radar." Just as the proposed public safety building wasn't "sold" to the citizens through publicity, public comment and sound justification, so this new program seems to have been slipped in by a an administration too busy to seek citizen involvement. Here in my townhouse neighborhood we will have difficulty finding room for two large carts. I suppose that some folks in the inner units will simply leave them outside. How many current recyclers will simply scrap the new carts and start putting everything in the garbage cart? Certainly nobody from the city asked our HOA if this was going to work for us! Frankly, I have similar concerns about the new building code process which seems to be geared mainly to make Planning Dept. workers' jobs easier rather then attempting to also address the need for adequate citizen input to zoning activities. By this time next year, it appears that we will have two options: 1) Let the planners decide what to allow, or 2) Send the question to the Board of Adjustment who will make a quasi-judicial decision which allows for very little flexibility.
