New subject: Service Raleigh March 26th (Saturday)

Dear CAC Chairs,
SWCAC last week accidentally learned that we have a group  housing project
known as Lineberry Student Housing (GH-1-11) that requires only
administrative approval (thanks to a mayor who served in the late 80's).   The
negatives about the project are: 1. on one side is Lennox Chase - home  to people
who are trying to get their acts together - including some people  who are
registered sex offenders, 2. the nursing home across the street is  a
"post-acute care" facility that also house Alzheimer's patients who do  not
need the
late night noise levels that come with many/most student housing  complexes,
3. the parking issues that come with student  housing because there never
are enough parking spaces for  residents and their guests (so we can expect
their vehicles to spill over into  the nursing home parking lot and on
Lineberry Street, Lake Wheeler Road and  other streets in the neighborhood) and 4.
they are so far from NCSU and other  colleges and universities that they
can create serious traffic problems in our  single-family neighborhoods and on
two-lane Lake Wheeler Road that already is  overwhelmed mornings and
evenings with commuter traffic.
We have nothing against students, but this is not the best location for
student housing.  Because of "administrative approval," it will be built  and
then we will have the problems/issues listed above.
My request to all of you who will be having a UDO presentation is to help
all parts of future Raleigh development by asking that "student housing"
never  be located adjacent to or near nursing homes or facilities such as
Lennox Chase  AND that any group housing project must have City Council approval,
not just  "administrative approval" and that the developer of any group
housing project  attend the appropriate CAC meeting to explain their project
and get CAC input  and approval.
