RCAC Members,
As of last month, Public Affairs began undergoing several changes. As part of those
changes, Media Standards have been implemented organization wide.
Our Public Affairs Department has now added a new process that seeks to enhance the
content received print customers both internally and externally. One of our Public Affairs
Specialists will review all content prior to print.
As with many changes, it takes time to fully realize the effect of change and to actualize
the benefit of change. If we continue to meet our current method of having the
newsletter content to the Community Specialists at least two (2) weeks before the meeting,
this new process should not affect our ability to get the newsletters to USPS recipients
about a week before the meeting.
Our current process is as outlined:
* Content to Community Specialist - 2 weeks before the meeting date
* Creating newsletter, review by Public Affairs, printing - 1 week lead time
* Citizens receive US Postal Mail and e-mail one week before the meeting
If you have specific questions as to how you facilitate this process with your Community
Specialist, please speak with them directly.
Thanks for your efforts to keep the citizens of Raleigh informed and engaged.
Serving with Excellence,
Dwayne C. Patterson

I encountered the same problem for my last CAC meeting. If Public Affairs is
reviewing, we need to know what the editorial standards are. The use of
hyperlinks seemed to be an issue, yet the majority of my recipients receive
the newsletter as a PDF.
Notification about this change would have been helpful.

Hey Dwayne,
I learned today that going forward our CAC newsletters will need to be
reviewed by Public Affairs. Can you explain the thinking behind this
decision and how it is supposed to work?
I have concerns about this decision and would like to know more. Thanks!
Regards,
Mark
