I am delighted to report that I just received news from Shamsa Visone that the Wedge Community Garden at Alexander YMCA, a long favored project supported by members of the Hillsborough CAC, today won First prize and the Grand Prize at the annual NUSA national neighborhood conference, this year held in Houston.  The awards were accompanied by monetary gifts of $500 and $1000.  Shamsa presented the case for the Wedge Garden at the NUSA Conference yesterday. She was accompanied to Houston by her husband, by Raleigh Community Services Director Dwayne Patterson, and by Sheila Lynch and Dan Bagley, also with Releigh Community Services.  Please see the attached picture of Shamsa (second from left) and the Raleigh contingent at the conference holding the award plaques.
