*Volunteers are needed for this weekend's Artsplosure *
Artsplosure seeks volunteers for its 30th annual Spring Arts Festival on
May 16 &17 in downtown Raleigh. Volunteers who work a 2 ½ - 3-hour shift
receive an Artsplosure 2009 t-shirt. Anyone interested can email Glynda
Westerbeek at volunteer(a)artsplosure.org or sign up online at
www.artsplosure.org. Each year the Artsplosure staff relies on
approximately 300 volunteers to help make the festival a success.
Volunteers are needed in an assortment of areas, including but not
limited to, setting up and breaking down the festival and assisting with
children's activities. Volunteers must be at least 16 years or older,
unless accompanied by an adult on the same shift. *Help is especially
needed on Sunday, May 17 in the Kidsplosure area.*
Like always, Artsplosure will feature an array of fine artists' booths
and interactive art experiences, as well as a selection of musical
performances for all tastes. Performers for this year's festival
include Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Buckwheat Zydeco, Trombone Shorty, Lonnie
Walker, The Soul of John Black, Kellylee Evans, Sunfold, and more.
Children's activities and performances are also a highlight of the
event. The weekend-long celebration is in and around Moore Square and
is free to the public.
