Phil,
Thanks for your concern.
I don't feel we can amend the agenda at this time. However, if you want to
bring it up under new business or your CAC report, you can.
If you do that, I would ask you, please, to take no more than 5 minutes
rather than take us on a long diversion. To be brief, for instance, perhaps
you could suggest a specific course of action that individual CACs might
choose to take in discussing it at their meetings. But with the RCAC on
course with the strategic planning over the following three meetings, there
won't be any time for the group to address it.
I am not comfortable, either, with the RCAC taking positions on what are
essentially political issues. Politics is within the realm of the Raleigh
City Council, not the RCAC. While I personally feel as you do-that is, I
strongly concur with the City Council's position-there are certainly many
Raleigh citizens who agree with the proposals and do not support the City
Council's positions on these issues.
Thank you again,
Will

House Bill 150 and the Dix Park contract have become major issues for the
City Council. I'm recommending we modify tonight's agenda to include a
discussion on ways the RCAC can support the Mayor and City Council on these
issues.
