I just wanted to update you on the Youth & Family Preparedness Day event we participated in Saturday June 18. Things went well. It was the first year for this event so not very many people came. CERT had two tables at this event – giving information about CERT, recruiting for new CERT members, and giving information about home emergency kits. I estimate 20-30 people came by. One very good thing was that members of 5 different local CERTs volunteered at the booth (Cary CERT; Apex CERT; Morrisville CERT; Don Becom and Gail Wiesner of our CERT; and Fuquay-Varina CERT which is even newer than us). We had 5 people give contact information to us – wanting more information about CERT. I know that at least 2 of these people want to get the basic training and join our CERT. We started a good relationship with the St Paul AME Church personnel – and were invited to participate in these event next year. Hope you have a good summer.
