Hey folks,
A few years ago when we had a few crooks wandering Belvidere Park and
Woodcrest, I organized a "take back the night" type event for neighbors.
We got together after dark with our dogs and had a group dog walk
through the neighborhood.
It was helpful in that neighbors (and dogs!) got to meet each other.
Dogs are also handy for protection and can alert you to people (or
critters) that might be hiding around the homes you are passing. Also,
crooks are not known for bringing their dogs along to their break-ins,
so if you see someone out with a dog it's a good bet that they're legit.
There's also the saying that if your dog doesn't like someone, you might
not like them, too. :)
I would propose that Lockwood and Longview neighbors get a similar group
together and start walking the neighborhood, greeting anyone you meet
with a friendly wave. And if you happen to see anything out of place,
you can make note of it or call it in, depending. Heck, with a group you
can take a vote. :)
I think the only way these guys are going to get busted is if we put
more eyes out there. Stay safe and good luck!
Cheers,
Mark
