Here they are. I used the maps you provided early on as my guide for these. If you think I
need to make some adjustments, please let me know.

Subject: [longview-park-community-watch] LPCW Update Hey neighbors, I have owed you all an
update from our last meeting for a couple of weeks. I have been a little backlogged due to
a hectic work schedule, but here's an update from our last meeting. We had a good
turnout for the last meeting, close to 30. Thanks to everyone who could make it. The
agenda is attached for your review. The theme of the meeting, volunteering. You too can
help with the neighborhood watch! It's easy. We reviewed the city grant that the LPCW
received. We have received funding for window decals and web hosting services. I am going
to be meeting with Charlene at the City to get our decals ordered and the web hosting
services purchased sometime next week. I'll keep you apprised of the progress. Sheri
Cassidy gave us an update of the Adopt-a-stream program and the stream cleanup in April.
The LPCW adopted a stream!! We adopted the strip along Locke. Be on the lookout for
updates on future stream cleanup efforts. We also reviewed the announcements. Please see
the attached agenda for those. I am also starting a simple little thing that I hope will
catch on. It's called Be on the Lookout. The idea is simple, just let your neighbors
something for which they should be on the lookout. Places where kids tend to play in the
street. Places where dogs dart out into the street. Obstacles in the sidewalk. Other such
stuff. I have to stress that anything that is of serious consequence should go through the
police, but this is just something simple. For example, I have three "be on the
lookouts" for you today. Be on the lookout for:- Kids playing near Locke and King
Charles. - Kids playing near King Charles and Surry- Kids playing near the intersection of
Culpepper and Milburnie When you're driving through these areas, be on the lookout so
everyone stays safe. Simple, to the point. I had a note to report the contact number for
reporting utility poles missing copper grounding wires - to report a utility pole where
the copper grounding wire has been removed, call Progress Energy at 919.508.5400 and
report a "damaged pole." We voted on a couple of items. 1. We voted to adopt the
area maps as shown on the links below. 2. We voted to pursue a signage policy that
includes static cling window decals and signs at the various entrances to the
neighborhood. I will collect information about neighborhood entrance signs and report back
to the neighbors. Lastly, we talked about having a summer social activity. We decided to
have a cookout at the Culpepper Park. That's right, we're going to get together
and have a good time at the Culpepper Park. I'm really looking forward to it. I
don't think we decided on a name for the event, but I'm leaning towards The
Culpepper Jam. Again the idea is simple (are you catching a theme with me), let's hang
out and grill a few hamburgers, hotdogs and veggie burgers and socialize as a
neighborhood. The idea seemed to be popular at the meeting, so I'm hoping it will
catch on now. Here's the skinny on it. The First Annual Culpepper JamJuly 14, 2012 at
4:00Culpepper Park I don't anticipate needing to block off the street or anything. I
hope we'll have a good crew to help clean up afterwards, and I know we're all
going to have a good time. This gathering is about us, the neighbors, not me, the
community watch guy. Let's all get together and have a good time. What do you guys
think? Feedback is encouraged :) We're going to circulate a list of stuff to bring
(below). Reply to the group what you are going to bring so we can keep track. Feel free to
make suggestions. Here is the list of items for the party as I see it so far. This is a
totally open list. Please suggest what you like. All suggestions are welcome. - grill-
