Council/Mayor candidate forum Sept. 16with your neighborhood lists. We are also holding
School Board forums that cover parts of Raleigh, but not all. These are great
opportunities for citizens to ask candidates questions themselves and learn about their
positions.

Candidate Forums Scheduled in September for Wake Board of Education and
Raleigh City Council / Mayor Candidates
Cosponsored by:League of Women Voters of Wake County, WakeUP Wake County, Western Wake
Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Youth Organizing Institute, El Pueblo and
Congregations for Social Justice
Growth planning, public schools, transportation, water supply, and budget priorities will
be the topics for questions and debate at upcoming municipal candidate forums. WakeUP
Wake County, the League of Women Voters of Wake County, Western Wake Alumnae Chapter of
Delta Sigma Theta, Youth Organizing Institute, El Pueblo, and Congregations for Social
Justice are co-hosting four forums for candidates running for Wake Board of Education for
four seats that are up this October 8 (Districts 1,2, 7 and 9). A candidate forum for the
Raleigh City Council and Raleigh Mayor candidate forum will also be held separately. All
co-sponsoring organizations are non-partisan. Dates, times, and locations of forums are
below.
Information about the Wake school construction bond will be available preceding each of
the forums, starting at 6:30 pm. County staff will be available to answer questions as
well. Information about the Raleigh transportation bond information will be available at
the Raleigh City Council forum.
Candidates will be asked questions by the organizations as well as the public audience and
will be allowed to make opening and closing statements. Almost all candidates have
confirmed participation in the forums. The public is encouraged to attend these free
public education forums. Registration is not required but encouraged. To RSVP and for

2013.
