Dear Mark,
We will host parents and students in grades 3 through 8 interested in attending our
Beginning of Grade (BOG) Camp and SMART Academy Open House on Saturday, September 7 from:
9 am -- 12 pm or,
1 pm -- 4 pm.
These sessions are FREE. We are asking interested parents to click below to register as
space is limited.
In order to help parents understand more about our program offerings, we've added
several Parent Relations Specialists to our team. The leader of this new team is Ms. Azizi
Culpepper. She may be reached via e-mail at aculpepper(a)ciswake.org. Ms. Culpepper is
available to answer any questions about our BOG Camp or SMART Academy.
On September 7, in addition to learning more about the Common Core Standards from Wake
County Public School System Personnel, parents will also learn more about:
Interactive Instruction...
Parents will engage with interactive instructional tools that can assist students in basic
skill areas.
Project-based Learning...
Parents will learn about alternative energy sources by building a solar oven, while their
student(s) will look at the ecological impact of using alternative energy for better
global awareness.
Small Group Instruction...
Parents will discover a reading strategy that you can practice with your children at home
that will allow them to enhance the interaction they have with text. This strategy is
currently used in Wake County elementary and middle schools.
Our slogan is "don't work harder, just SMARTER!"
