Oh no! I remember this woman from when I was handing out flyers announcing one of the Community Watch meetings. This makes me so sad. I am very glad to hear, however, that her direct neighbors are helping out so much. If there is *anything* that I can do, please let me know. Do you know if she has any dietary restrictions? I would be more than happy to go buy her some food. I guess it'd be helpful to know her preferences. Maybe we can discuss this at the CAC meeting on Monday? Or on this listserv is fine too. Matt: She may be able to get some additional help from the NC Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. There is also an agency called Independent Living, which is part of the Division of Vocational Reahbilitation - they may be able to help her with the phone. I work at a non-profit called Disability Rights NC. We do legally-based advocacy rather than direct services, but if she needs help getting assistance, we may be able to give her some additional referrals. The number is 856-2195.
