I called the distric office and asked an officer to come by and they said someone would
come....it's been half an hour though. I'll make sure to be more specific
next time.
Everyone watch out though

Matt,
When you call the district office it's like calling the non-emergency line. Of you
call after 5pm it gets sent to the down town district desk officer who the has to relay it
to the officers in your area but he can not dispatch officers. Also depending on when the
officer is given the call he or she is going to circulate the area on the way in starting
out moving their way in towards your location or the last known location of the person.
If you don't ask for the officer to specifically come to your home or contact you the
officer does not know you want them to stop by or call. When 911 dispatches the call it
is given a priority code and depending on how you describe it to the call taker, who has
no law enforcement and is not a an officer, they will dispatch it to the next available
officer who may be 15-20 minutes away or their may not be an officer available due to call
volume. If you give me the your address and the time you called 911 I will look up the
call history and see what took place.

Make sure when you call you specifically ask for the officer to come by the house or call
you. Most officers do not go by the house if they are not asked to do so by the caller;
thus is because most times when it is not specified if the caller wants the officer to
contact them and officers go by the house the caller gets upset. I usually cover this at
the CAC when the question comes up.

We just had a black male, maybe 16 years old, gray sweatshirt ring our doorbell at 9:20 at
night and ask for money. I didn't open the door, told him to leave and called the
police. They didn't come by our house, not that I saw....definitely didn't come to
talk to us.
