Break-in near Marlborough/North King Charles

Dear Neighbors, A friend of mine who lives near the intersection of Marlborough and North King Charles had his house broken into yesterday while no one was home. He had jewelry and various weapons stolen, including a handgun. What made this burglary a bit unusual is that the thieves broke in by cutting a hole in his back door with a reciprocating saw. So I guess the lesson here is to be alert to the sound not only of people kicking in doors but of unusual sawing activity. Sue Sturgis Millbank Street

I live on Marlborough, and have twice gotten our cars broken into with two ipods stolen and a 3DS. I wanted to see this picture of the vandals you send out but did not receive it, can you send it out again? Needless to say, we keep nothing in our cars anymore and keep the doors always locked. Thanks for sharing it Mark! Sorry for the blurred lines, I took it with my cellphone off of my neighbor's computer screen. It's taken from an infrared security camera that my neighbor has setup. That's my truck and the car alarm is on so he just parks his bike on it fortunately. He then walks off camera to my old Beetle and rummages in there. The stereo faceplate was on the floorboards this morning but nothing was missing. There's a second male on a bike parked by my neighbor's driveway where a car was unlocked and items were taken. One would ride down the driveway while the other parked on the sidewalk as a lookout. They travelled on bikes from Barksdale and were on Rumson headed towards Marlborough into Lockwood. They skipped the homes with lights on too. I live over on the annexed-by-Raleigh-Blvd-end of Woodcrest, so I wasn't a member of this listserv and aware of the recent break-ins. Solid Waste pickup on Monday

ALERT: The City of Raleigh Solid Waste Services Department is working today, Feb. 14, to complete any missed garbage and recycling collections from Wednesday, Feb. 12. After these collections are complete, the Department will suspend operations for the day due to closures at the East Wake Transfer Station and the South Wake Landfill. These facilities are expected to reopen Saturday, Feb. 15. Therefore, garbage and recycling routes for Thursday, Feb. 13 will run on Saturday, Feb. 15 and routes for Friday, Feb. 14 will run on Monday, Feb. 17. Customers are reminded to set out their carts no later than 7 a.m. on their day of collection and to leave carts at the curb until they have been serviced. All yard waste collections have been suspended until Tuesday, Feb. 18, as garbage and recycling collections receive first priority in the current circumstances. Neighborhood watch meeting Thu Nov 14

Greetings, neighbors! The Greater Lockwood Community Watch will be meeting on Thursday Nov 14 at 7pm in the Powell Elementary School media room. Please join us and bring a neighbor.
