Just saw 3 juvinille black males jumping the fence out of a vacant house on Donnelly. I called the police.
I see these 3 kids hanging around the neighborhood a lot, and it's one thing to loiter around on the corner, it's another to be in a vacant house and jumping the fence, which indicates to me you're up to no good.
One is a heavy set boy, another has a small Afro. If these are your kids or you know them, please inform them that trespassing in a vacant house will only get them into trouble, and we have enough trouble in this neighborhood as it is without them adding to it.
Sorry if this seems harsh, but I'm tired of walkingn out my back door to see strangers running through my yard.
Hey folks,
Our next LPCW meeting will be held at the Enloe Media Center on 3/26/13 at 7:00 PM. We'll start the meeting with discussion about the Upper Longview Lake System Improvement Project, traffic calming projects in the area and a few other topics. We'll also hold breakout discussion groups on three main topics: our 2013 neighborhood grant application, street lighting improvements in our area and starting up a junior community watch for area kids. We'll also start talking about the summer's Grill 'n Chill party in July and the National Night Out in August. It's never too early to start planning...
I hope you can all make it to the meeting!
Regards,Matt LearyChairperson, Longview Park Community Watch

Subject: [East-CAC] Highlights from tonight's East CAC meeting
Hi Eastsiders!
Y'all missed a great and informative meeting tonight!
The regular notes will go out in the newsletter in a few weeks, but here are some highlights from the meeting:
* Officer Krysko said that the commotion this past weekend on Culpepper was due to a "shots fired" call. Someone called 911 saying that shots had been fired and several police responded. Nothing was found.
* Parks and Rec Easter Egg Hunt is THIS SATURDAY! Starts at noon at Lion's Park Community Center and will feature healthy candies! Everyone is invited.
* Get involved with YOUR City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation System Plan by heading to http://www.yourparksyourfuture.com/
* A lively question and answer session was held with representatives from the developers of McDonald's when they told us about a new McDonald's that will be coming before the City Council and Planning Commission in April. The plan is to place a McDonald's restaurant on New Bern Ave. beside Walgreens (across from Wake Med). Some great questions were discussed: Our neighborhood is considered a "food desert" so what is McDonald's going to do to provide healthy food? How many jobs will be created? What about traffic? Can this particular McDonald's help with trash accumulation at Enloe HS (given the fact that it will be the closest fast food restaurant to the campus and that will probably mean McDonald's trash lining our streets and filling our streams)? Stay tuned! McDonald's will be back to another East CAC meeting!
* Water lines are being replaced in our neighborhood and the work will continue through September. If you have questions or concerns please contact Ed Stempien from the COR Public Utilities Dept. at (919) 996-3490.
* Martin Street Baptist Church (1001 E. Martin St.) gives away free fresh fruits and veggies to people in need every second Saturday of the month. First come, first served.
* HR Bill 150 is in the NC House now. The NC Legislature is trying to take away the ability of cities across the state to provide input into structures in residential zoning. What does this mean to you? It means that it could open the door to infill that permits the construction of a house with multiple bedrooms and connected bathrooms, and opens the door for the construction of boarding houses in single family neighborhoods. It also takes away the citizen's ability to interact with the city and developers when new construction is being built adjacent to their neighborhoods. The City of Raleigh has just spent years on the development of our Unified Development Ordinance and they did it with OUR input. The legislature is telling us that citizen input about the character of their community is not important. If you feel it is important, please contact members of the Wake Delegation and let them know how important it is to you. (Wake County mayors have
passed a resolution opposing the bill) Contact information is attached.
* If you would like to volunteer for our annual East CAC Community Day (coming up in August) please come to the next CAC meeting (third Monday of each month at 7pm at Lion's Park Community Center) and sign up! Or contact Ms. Deborah Ford!
Thanks and goodnight!
Ginger

FYI for those not on Nextdoor
Officer Krysko, A detective called us after we reported her last year and she is back: Last year a young woman in her 20's was going door to door in order to get credit cards and checkbooks. We reported her when she came by and showed me her drivers license so she could come inside and it turns out had been robbing people all over the neighborhood. Well she came by again yesterday and said she goes dooor to door with free detergant in order to come in to clean stains. She says she attends NC Central and they are her sponsor. She is about 5 foot, round and has dyed red hair in the front. She is accompanied by a white male in his 40s-50s. They are driving a grey Chevy Astro van. Do not let them in and call 911.
Thanks,
Kevin Bogan

They came by our house yesterday. She was
driving the grey van and the guy knocked on the door with the box of
detergent. He told us they were trying to save for a trip to Vegas. It
seemed very strange. We watched them go door to door. We will for sure
call the cops if we even see the van again. Thanks for letting us know!

Hi everyone and sorry for this short notice,
HB150 has sailed thru committee and is likely to be voted on in the House on Tuesday.
This is the bill that will take away the ability of the city to have any say on aesthetics in residential zoning.
There is also a part of the bill that states that the city cannot have any say on the interior placements of rooms.
This bill will have many affects on us.
With regards to the interior layout of rooms, this opens the door to infill that permits the construction of a house with multiple bedrooms and connected bathrooms and opens the door for the construction of boarding houses in single family neighborhoods.
It also take away the citizens ability to interact with the city and developers when new construction is being build adjacent to their neighborhoods.
We have just spent years on the development of our UDO and we did it with YOUR input.
This legislature is telling us that citizen input about the character of their community is not important.
We have asked the General Assembly to work with us (The Wake County Mayors and the Metropolitan Mayors Coalition) to come up with some compromise language that will allow us to continue to work with our citizens to develop out cities.
PLEASE, contact the members of the Wake Delegation and let them know that you do not want to see this bill rushed thru without further conversation with the cities.
This bill was introduced by Nelson Dollar, from the Wake County Delegation.
The Wake County Mayors have passed a resolution opposing the bill.
I have attached the Wake Delegation's contact information.
Thanks,
Nancy
There may be a press event Monday to address this at 5:30. I will contact you all as soon as I know more about this.
