Ok I just walked by the house and there was a yellow sheet on the door. The inspector came by today! (thank you whoever made that happen!)
The owners live in Virginia, so I doubt they'll respond...hopefully it'll get mowed in a couple of weeks by the city
James, the house is on the corner of Donnelly and Glasscock. You can't miss it. The grass is almost 3 feet high...I don't know if it is bank owned or privately owned, but whoever owns it hasn't kept up with it in a WHILE.

I agree, filing a seeclickfix complaint is your best bet to see quick action by the City. The property owner would face some repercussions for not maintaining the property.

Christa is correct. It is typically best to inform the City about
these issues, and not address them yourself. In this case, mowing the
lawn may eliminate any true nuisance case that the City might be able
to bring that would compel the absentee owner to take responsibility.
Also, we have learned through experience that seeclickfix.com<http://seeclickfix.com>
(http://seeclickfix.com/east-raleigh) is an excellent way to get these
issues addressed. These reports are reviewed directly by the City
Manager's office and provide a workflow framework the maximizes
accountability. In some cases, the reports even attract the attention
of the media (e.g., Eloe HVAC noise issue last fall).

Hi everyone...Matt, is there a way we can organize a yard clean up? There is a house on the corner of Donnelly & Glasscock (just down from us) that is obviously unoccupied & the grass in the lawn is about 3 feet high. It looks awful & i'm sure attracts bad attention.
I'm not sure the legality, but I don't think anyone would mind if we organized a clean up. People could bring lawn mowers, weed eaters, we could clean up sticks, weeds, pinecones, etc. Jillian & I couldn't do a Saturday (we work) but a Sunday would be great....we don't own a lawnmower or weedeater but we would definitely use one if neighbors brought some & we can do other maintenance.
I just think it would be good for the neighborhood & also show the folks in Longview that we won't let properties go into disrepair.
How can we work this out?
Hey neighbors,
This is a friendly reminder about the Stream and Street Cleanup this weekend. Many people in the area have commented about the trash and other debris in the stream along Locke between North King Charles and Bertie. Now is your chance to help clean it up! Come on out on Saturday April 28 from 10:00 to 2:00 to help with the Stream and Street cleanup on Locke Lane. This effort is scheduled to coincide with the NCDOT 2012 Spring Litter Sweep (April 14-28). We are also working with the Adopt-a-Stream program to obtain materials and support for the cleanup effort. This is a great way to meet some more of your neighbors and help make the neighborhood a better place.
There is also an opportunity to win cash prizes!! Pepsico in conjunction with the Spring Litter Sweep is holding a contest to find the most unusual litter. Cash prizes for the most unusual litter items go all the way up to $250! What a great way to put some extra change in your pocket while helping a good cause at the same time.
Where and when:- Saturday April 28 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM- Meeting location will be at the corner of Bertie and Locke. Ask for Sheri.
What will be provided:- Trash bags- Safety vests- Latex gloves- Trash pickup
What you need to bring:- Appropriate clothing, such as boots, hat, etc.- Bug spray- Sunscreen- Work gloves. We may have a few extra pairs, but if you have some, please bring them.
We welcome all participants, but if you're under 18, we'll need written parental consent. Let me know if you need a consent form, and I'll email it to you.
Many thanks to Sheri Cassidy for heading up this effort. Great work Sheri!
My apologies for the cross posts, but I'm trying to reach the broadest group of folks in our area.

Sincere apologies for cross posting.
Our doggie just came in from evening tinkles and we found an interesting
assortment of bugs on her, including two ticks. Vet and various news
stories suggest that this will be a very bad tick season. Be on the
lookout!!!
